Sometimes an experience finds you when you need it. That’s what Head West Retreat did for me. From the amazing vegetarian food (no emergency bacon needed!), the location, the scenery, the yoga, the collection of extraordinary, smart funny women and the ability to NOT have to do anything but just be, this retreat was balm for my tired soul and everything I had been looking for but didn’t know I could have. Sarah is like a warm sunny hug and Wilma is a soothing, rooting presence, and between them you find your center and your peace. (And boy did we laugh a lot.) Thank you ladies, for a wonderful experience. I feel like I went out to see friends I just hadn’t met yet. I’ll be back again for sure.

I am filled with happiness today! My husband gave me the most wonderful gift of a west Texas yoga retreat for my 40th birthday. I have spent these last 3 days with a super cool group of women, all of whom I now consider friends. We did yoga, we saw fantastic art, we drank wine, we ate delicious, healthy food and we laughed and had a blast. I will be forever grateful for this memory.

From that last stretch into Marathon, blasting Dixie Chicks’ ‘Wide Open Spaces’ you get a glimpse of the place the retreat is held. And if it’s before sundown, the hint is a peach or rose colored tint. The sweet women who attend have good, happy energy which is contagious. The food is healthy and delicious, so you get a physical rest as well as emotional. The daily yoga is just right for me and sometimes there are two practices in a day. Wilma and Sarah take us on little trips, this time to Marfa and to Julie Speed’s art studio which is amazing. Unending photo ops, views, friends and vistas. And maybe a visit or two to the White Buffalo at the Gage Hotel. Loved it.

I got exactly what I needed out of this retreat and more! From the gorgeous and unique scenery, stillness and silence of the desert, and grounding yoga, to the AMAZING, healthy cuisine, fun art project, and fantastic energy of the beautiful women who absolutely contributed to the all-around perfect experience, Wilma and Sarah know exactly how to host a take-time-for-me getaway that fulfills you spiritually and physically.

I can’t say enough about Head West Retreats !! If you are into yoga (whether a novice, advanced or just wanted to see what it is about), good food, arts, and relaxation then this is the trip for you. I came into the retreat with many years of yoga knowledge, but had not practiced yoga in over 6 years. Sarah walked us through a beautiful flow yoga (and meditation to boot!!) that helped me to ease my way back into yoga. She also reminded me to know my limitations and for this over-achiever, I took her word. After 4 days of yoga, I came back home with a renewed energy and a new willingness to return to my yoga practice. The retreat also renewed my spirit and my soul. I can not wait for the next retreat in February. Thank you Sarah and Wilma for everything! You guys are special to everyone who comes into contact with you. Namaste.

I am still wistful for my time in Marathon. What a wonderful getaway! Sarah and Wilma made the entire weekend spectacular. It was a perfect balance of fun (always optional) activities, chill-out time, energizing yoga practices, amazing food (with vegan options, I felt special!) and socializing. They let me bring my sweet dog, Nico, and he had a great time too. It’s a long drive out there, but what better place to get away? The mountains and the big sky are like nothing else on earth. I also made new friends for which I am super grateful. Thanks for the fantastic experience! I look forward to attending another one in the near future.

I’ve caught myself daydreaming about the retreat a few times… dreaming back to that amazing sweet little Casa la Vista, where the classes flew by. I’d awake from savasana, a better version of myself, inspired by those wonderful readings, staring out at that VIEW of the mountains, and seeing sweet Maverick [Wilma’s dog] checking us out through the window. Then we’d head off to meet up for those beautiful, well thought-out meals, made from love. I really really enjoyed each and every one of you and our interaction.
